Electric bikes for every kind of ride

This is our full range of electric bikes in one place. Whether you want to commute without arriving hot, fold a bike into the car boot, carry the children to school or ride trails at the weekend, there is an e-bike here for you.

Every road-legal e-bike we sell has a motor rated at 250W that helps you up to 15.5mph while you pedal, so hills and headwinds stop being a problem. You can ride one from age 14 with no licence, tax or insurance. A few models are for private land only, and we say so clearly on the product page.

How to choose

  • Commuting and errands: a hybrid or step-through e-bike, ideally with lights, mudguards and a rack.
  • Small spaces and trains: a folding e-bike that fits in a car boot or a hallway.

The e-bike difference

Why ride an electric bike?

An e-bike gives you a helping hand exactly when you need it, so every ride feels easier and more fun.

  • Hills made easy

Smooth pedal assistance takes the sting out of steep climbs and headwinds, so you arrive fresh instead of worn out.

  • Fitter, your way

You still pedal, so you still get the exercise. Pick more help on tired days and less when you fancy a workout.

  • Cheaper journeys

A full charge costs roughly 15p at today's UK electricity prices, with no fuel, road tax or parking to pay for.

  • Kinder to the planet

No exhaust fumes on your street, and every short trip you swap from the car helps cut congestion and emissions.

Frequently asked questions

The questions our customers ask most, before and after they buy.

What is an electric bike?

An electric bike, or e-bike, is a standard bicycle fitted with a battery-powered motor that provides extra assistance. The motor can engage when you pedal or, in some cases, through a throttle. This added support makes climbing hills, covering longer distances, and tackling rough ground much easier without leaving you overly tired.

These bikes are often called pedelecs and give the same feel as traditional cycling but with added benefits. They are a healthier, more environmentally friendly, and convenient way to travel, opening cycling up to a wider range of people.

How do electric bikes work?

E-bikes function with three key components: a motor, a battery, and a sensor. Together, these parts enhance pedalling power and create a smoother ride.

When you begin pedalling, the sensor detects your effort and signals the motor to activate, helping to propel the wheels and ease your ride. The battery provides the power supply, while the bike’s display shows battery level, speed, and allows you to adjust assistance levels. The system works in harmony to deliver a comfortable and efficient cycling experience.

What types of e-bike are there?

There are several types of electric bikes, each designed to suit different needs and lifestyles. Popular options include:

Cargo e-bikes: Designed to carry heavy loads or passengers in towns and cities, offering the practicality of a small cargo vehicle with the ease of cycling.

City and urban e-bikes: Built for daily travel through busy areas, providing a quick, eco-friendly way to commute with minimal effort.

Fat tyre e-bikes: Known for stability and smooth performance, these bikes are suitable for all kinds of terrain, both on roads and off-road.

Folding e-bikes: Compact and easy to transport, perfect for travellers or commuters who need a bike that can be stored away easily.

Hybrid e-bikes: A blend of road and mountain bike features, offering flexibility for everyday journeys and light off-road rides.

Electric mountain bikes: Strong frames and powerful motors make them perfect for tackling demanding off-road trails.

Step-through e-bikes: Designed with an easy-access frame, so getting on and off is easy.

Are e-bikes legal in the UK?

Yes. Electrically assisted pedal cycles, often called EAPCs, are treated like normal bicycles in Great Britain. You must be 14 or over to ride one. The motor must be rated at no more than 250 watts, and it must stop helping once you reach 15.5mph.

EAPCs do not need a licence, insurance, MOT or road tax, and you can ride them anywhere a normal bicycle is allowed.

Are e-bikes still legal if they have a throttle?

Yes, with limits. Many e-bikes have a walk-assist mode that moves the bike at walking pace, no faster than 3.7mph (6km/h), to help you push it. Walk assist is allowed and does not need approval.

If the motor can propel the bike up to 15.5mph without you pedalling, often called twist and go, the bike must be type approved before it can be used on public roads. If a bike you like has a throttle, ask us before you buy and we will tell you how it works.

Can I ride an e-bike in the rain?

All electric bikes are built with water resistance in mind, so they can be ridden comfortably in wet weather and through puddles.

That said, it is best to check the manufacturer’s specific guidance on water protection. Avoid using power washers when cleaning your bike, as high-pressure water can damage components.

For detailed information on water resistance ratings, check the IP rating in the product specifications or contact us.

What size e-bike should I get?

Start with the product page. Each bike lists its rider height range or frame sizes, which are the most accurate guide for that model. For general advice, read our electric bike size guide.

What warranty do Pedal Go e-bikes have?

Every e-bike we sell comes with at least a 1 year warranty. Cover varies by brand and model, and some makers cover the frame for longer. You will find the details in the Warranty tab on each product page. For anything else, email us at sales@pedalgo.co.uk or use our live chat.

How long does delivery take?

Most orders are dispatched within 5 working days of payment, and standard UK delivery then usually takes 3 to 5 working days. Some models take longer, depending on our supplier and stock. If your order will take longer than usual, we will tell you and give you a new estimate. You will receive tracking details by email once your order has been dispatched.

What happens if the battery runs out?

You can keep riding it like a normal bicycle. The motor and battery add some weight, so pedalling feels a little heavier, but the bike is still easy to ride without assistance.
